Born 1928 in Nice, France. Died 2005 in New York, USA.
The French-American object artist Arman is especially known for his sculptures made of identical, found objects of utility, which are called “accumulations”. Inspired by the philosophy and aesthetics of the Dada movement and as a representative of Nouveau Réalisme alongside Yves Klein and Jean Tinguely, Arman reacted to the Pop Art emerging in America at the time with his own critique of the consumer world, disposable culture and mass production.
Arman’s works are presented in renowned museums and exhibitions around the world and are part of significant international collections.
