A Dialogue between the Ages
Season Opening Thursday, 4 September 2025, 5 to 8 pm
The introduction to the exhibition with Robert Bigler and Martin Klotz will take place at 5 p.m. This will be followed by an apéro.
The exhibition Line and Form – A Dialogue between the Ages is a joint project with BIGLER FINE ARTS (Zurich) and the LENZ KLOTZ ART COLLECTION (Nuglar), which brings contemporary abstract painting by Lenz Klotz (1925, Chur – 2017, Basel) from 1950 onwards into an exciting exchange with carefully selected artefacts from a wide range of eras.
What at first glance appears to be contradictory – archaic or antique objects and modern imagery – turns out on closer inspection to be a subtle interplay of form, reduction and expression. The exhibition examines parallels in the visual language that run through cultures and epochs over thousands of years – from the symbolic character of ancient objects to the clear formal language of modernity.
