Born 1964 in London. Lives and works in London.
Sean Dawson is internationally recognized for his intense abstract painting that express themselves with expansive gestures, vibrant hues and cosmic spaces. Rather than achieve abstraction in the traditional sense by simplifying figurative representation and thus alienating it from its original meaning, the artist alienates what is familiar from the visually perceived world by distortion, fragmentation and decontextualization. The representative elements no longer are specifically identifiable and simply register at the edge of the viewer’s awareness.
Dawson’s works are represented in international collections such as Frankfurt Kunsthalle, Germany; Frederick R Weisman Foundation, Los Angeles, USA; Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Munich, Germany; Reinhard & Ute Onnasch Collection, Berlin, Germany; The London Institute, London, UK.
